Quick answer
A replacement cleat set and a flat pedal adapter solve different needs. Cleats connect compatible cycling shoes to the pedal's retention system. A flat adapter provides a platform for regular shoes on a compatible pedal. VELYN offers both; select by intended use and exact pedal model.
Compare the two accessories
| Accessory | Intended use | Main fit check |
|---|---|---|
| Road cleat set | Replace a compatible shoe-mounted cleat setup | Pedal interface, cleat generation and shoe mounting arrangement |
| Flat pedal adapter | Use regular shoes on a compatible platform | Exact pedal model and secure adapter seating |
A flat adapter is not a cleat conversion for another brand of clipless pedal. A replacement cleat set does not establish compatibility with every shoe or SPEEDPLAY generation. Start with the pedal model and existing interface.
If you need replacement cleats
The SPEEDPLAY ZERO-compatible road cleat set has Black, Gray, Yellow and Green options in VELYN's current catalogue. Match pedal interface, cleat shape and shoe mounting setup. A base plate or adapter may be required; verify package contents rather than assuming all required hardware is supplied.
Wahoo publishes an official pedal and cleat compatibility chart. Use it to identify the original system and generation. This reference does not certify an aftermarket replacement.
If you want to ride in regular shoes
The Speedplay-compatible flat pedal adapter is listed as a removable platform accessory. Compare your pedal with the photos and confirm the interface. It is an adapter, not a pair of pedals or cycling shoes.
Follow the accessory instructions and confirm that it seats securely before use. If model fit or retention is uncertain, ask for clarification instead of using a partially engaged accessory.
Three questions before buying
- Am I replacing shoe-mounted cleats or seeking a regular-shoe platform?
- What is the exact pedal model and generation?
- Does the shoe or pedal interface require additional parts?
